Shipping Policy

Thank you for shopping at Appreciated Gift Baskets. We understand that making sure your gift gets to its destination on time and in good condition is important to you. We have created our policy to help us achieve that goal and to help you understand how we ship our gifts. The following topics cover most common shipping questions and situations. Contact Customer Service if we can further assist you.
Where and How Do We Ship?
We ship gifts to all 50 states with a variety of shipping methods and delivery times. Our shipping options are described below. Applicable shipping options, and the availability of delivery to Alaska and Hawaii, depends upon the specific gift. Our gifts are designed, created, and shipped from different shipping facilities. As a result, each product can have different times to ship and different rules for same day shipping, so please refer to the individual gift description pages for the appropriate shipping information associated with that product. The majority of our orders ship from our shipping facilities within 1-3 days, but some may take longer to be designed, created, and prepared for shipping.

Please note: additional shipping charges apply for Alaska, Hawaii, and Saturday delivery shipping service. Fresh Fruits and Nuts will not be shipped via Standard Ground delivery, or to Alaska and Hawaii. Therefore you will not see these shipping options when placing your order for these types of gifts.

Providing Accurate Shipping Information
It is very important to provide accurate and complete shipping information for your gift recipient. Please confirm the accuracy of your and your gift recipient’s information prior to placing your order. Ensure you provide correct recipient name, address, suite or building number, and phone number. Incorrect information will result in delays in delivery, returned packages, and possibly additional charges. If you are unsure of your gift recipient’s address and phone number we recommend you try www.anywho.com or www.whitepages.com, although this information may not be up to date if a person has recently moved. We are not responsible for replacing or reshipping packages submitted with incorrect or incomplete recipient address and phone numbers. You will be charged any additional shipping and handling fees resulting from incorrect or incomplete shipping information.

Shipping to Hospitals, Hotels and Other Institutions
Deliveries to hospitals, hotels/motels, colleges, hospices, funeral homes, and other such institutions are NOT RECOMMENDED. Instead we highly recommend that you ship to either a nearby family member if possible or to the person’s home address. Deliveries to institutions normally go to a general receiving department and then get routed to the recipient. It could take an extra day or two for your gift to reach the recipient. It is possible that the gift misses the recipient’s stay at the institution, is not properly forwarded to the recipient, or the institution refuses acceptance of the package. We are unable to guarantee these deliveries and no refunds will be given should you ship to these types of locations. We can only ensure that the gift package is delivered to the institution. If you do ship to one of these institutions, be sure to include the name of the institution in the shipping information.

Shipping to Business Addresses
Shipping to businesses may cause delivery issues. Packages are normally delivered to a designated receiving dock or front desk area. It is up to the staff to accept and deliver the package to the recipient. In addition, a business may be closed, have restricted access, or the package may be lost or misplaced within the business. As a result, we are unable to be responsible for deliveries to businesses. We will consider the shipping carrier’s delivery confirmation to the business to be confirmation that the gift package was delivered to the recipient. We recommend that you ship your gift to the recipient’s home address if possible. If you do ship to a business, be sure to include the business name in the shipping information.

Same Day Shipping and Cut-Off Times
Most gift baskets are specially made when an order is received and it takes time to make the basket and prepare it for shipping. Orders received early in the day that are shipped express can generally be shipped out the same business day. We ship from a number of shipping facilities with different same day ship cut-off times. This is the latest order time for which the facility is able to ship that gift order in the same day. Each product description indicates the time when orders need to be received for that product in order to ship on that day. We will make our best effort to ship orders on the same day that are received prior to the cut-off time and have an express delivery shipping method, but can not guarantee it. Orders received after the cut-off time that are express delivery and orders received on weekends and holidays are shipped the next business day unless otherwise specified.

Shipping Methods
We use a variety of shipping methods ranging from Standard Ground delivery to standard Next Day delivery. Our packages may be shipped via UPS, FedEx, or USPS. We select the most economical shipping carrier based on your destination zipcode. We will notify you when your order has shipped and provide the shipping tracking number so that you can track the shipment to its final destination. That not only allows you to make sure the gift was delivered, but it also allows the gift recipient to be surprised by the gift’s arrival and for you to contact them after they have received the gift.

The following shipping methods are used for various products. Please refer to the shipping options available on the individual product description pages to determine which shipping methods are available for that product. Note: with all shipping methods, weather conditions and peak holiday season (December 11- December 24) may impact the delivery time of your order.

Standard Ground Delivery: Packages arrive within approximately 5-7 business days, in some instances as soon as 3 days, depending on the delivery area. With this service, packages are not guaranteed to be delivered within a specific number of days. We can not ensure a delivery date. Fresh fruits and cookies can not be sent Standard Ground due to the delivery time required. Therefore you will not see the Standard option when placing your order for these types of gifts.

RUSH Ground Delivery: The shipping of some gift packages may be expedited to ship on the day of the order and then shipped with the Ground delivery shipping method. Orders must be received prior to the same-day shipping cut-off time for that product. These gifts normally take 2-3 days to be designed, created, and shipped. A RUSH order received prior to the cut-off time will be expedited so that it ships on the same day that the order is received. If the order is received after the cut-off time, the RUSH order will ship the next business day. Please note: the design, creation, and turnover to the shipping carrier of the gift is rushed, not the actual transit time of the gift package by the shipping carrier. Standard Ground delivery is used, which takes 5-7 days for delivery. For gifts that have the RUSH shipping option available, expedited shipping methods (2 Day and Next Day) will automatically be given RUSH processing. Fresh fruits and cookies can not be sent Standard Ground due to the delivery time required. Therefore you will not see Standard or RUSH Ground Delivery shipping options when placing your order for these types of gifts.

Standard Ground to Alaska and Hawaii: This shipping option should only be used when shipping gift packages to Alaska and Hawaii. It incorporates the additional charges for shipping to those states. Packages are shipped Standard Ground delivery. Delivery is usually in 5-10 days, although some locations may take longer. Fresh Fruits and cookies can not be sent Standard Ground to Alaska and Hawaii due to the delivery time required.

3 Day Delivery: Packages are guaranteed delivery within 1-3 business days of being shipped from our shipping facilities. Please read individual product description pages to determine the order cut-off time related to this delivery method.

2 Day Delivery: Packages are guaranteed delivery within 1-2 business days of being shipped from our shipping facilities. Please read individual product description pages to determine the order cut-off time related to this delivery method. If you are placing a fresh fruit or perishable food order any time after the same day ship cut-off time on Wednesday for 2 Day delivery, we recommend you consider adjusting the shipping method to avoid perishable foods in transit over the weekend. If placing an order on Wednesday after the same day ship cut-off time or on Thursday prior to the same day shipping cut-off time, we recommend using Next Day shipping method to ensure the package arrives on Friday. If placing an order on Thursday after the same day cut-off time or on Friday prior to the same day shipping cut-off time, we recommend you consider a Saturday delivery option when available.

Next Day Delivery: Packages are guaranteed delivery the next business day after being shipped. Packages are not delivered on Saturday with this shipping option. Please read individual product description pages to determine order cut-off time related to this shipping option. If you are placing a fresh fruit or perishable food order after the same day ship cut-off time on Thursday for Next Day delivery, we recommend you consider adjusting the shipping method to avoid fresh fruits and perishable foods being in transit over the weekend. If placing your order on Friday prior to the same day ship cut-off time for that product, we recommend using a Saturday Delivery when available.

Saturday Delivery: This shipping option delivers your gift package on Saturday to your recipient. It assumes a Friday shipping date and Next Day delivery of the package. Please read individual product description pages to determine the same day ship cut-off time.

Expedited Alaska and Hawaii Delivery: This shipping method should only be used for packages sent to Alaska and Hawaii. It incorporates the additional charges for shipping to those states. Packages arrive expedited to Alaska and Hawaii. Delivery is usually in 1-5 business days, although some locations may take longer. Fresh fruits and cookies can not be sent using this shipping method due to the additional delivery time and transit conditions required.

Delivery Date Guarantees
Until a gift has shipped, we are unable to guarantee specific times or dates of arrival regardless of the shipping method selected. Estimated shipping times do not include the time to process and create your gift and prepare it for shipping. The majority of our orders ship from our shipping facilities within 1-3 days, but some may take longer to be designed, created, and shipped.

Once a gift has shipped, if our carrier does not meet a guaranteed delivery date, we will refund your premium shipping charge in full. Call Customer Service to request a late delivery refund.

Appreciated Gift Baskets ships per each shipping carrier’s rules and regulations and are bound to their policies. Once a package has been handed to the shipping carrier, the carrier is responsible for the delivery of the package and any delivery time guarantees. The carrier controls their actual delivery time and the decision whether your location is considered “safe” or “appropriate” to leave a package. Carriers may or may not leave the package at the door. It is up to the driver’s discretion to determine whether it is best to obtain a signature. If an attempt is made to deliver the package, the carrier will leave instructions when the package delivery will be next reattempted or how to obtain the package. If no one is present to accept the delivery after three attempts, the package is deemed to be undeliverable. In this case, the carrier will return the gift package to our shipping facility as undeliverable. If a package is returned to us, the Refused Delivery return policy applies.

Not all shipping methods are guaranteed and the shipping carriers reserve the right to suspend shipping guarantees during peak periods (typically December 11-December 24). If you order a gift that is being shipped via Standard Ground delivery, please be aware that Standard Ground delivery provides an estimated delivery date – the delivery date provided is not a guaranteed delivery date. 3 Day, 2 Day, Next Day, and Saturday shipping methods provide guaranteed delivery dates. Please be sure to upgrade your shipping methods if you have any delivery time constraints.

The carrier will indicate to us if a gift was ultimately “delivered.” If a shipping carrier indicates a package was “delivered” even if the recipient claims non-receipt, we will work with the shipping carrier to verify delivery was made, but we will not provide a refund credit unless the shipping carrier indicates non-delivery. We suggest that that you or the recipient contact the delivering carrier to verify where the parcel was left.

Order Status
You can track your order status after you have placed your order. You will be able to determine when the order shipped, the status of the shipped package, and when it is delivered. You will receive an email notification when your order has shipped from our shipping facilities and the shipping carrier’s tracking number. This tracking number will allow you to track the package with the shipping carrier as it travels to your gift recipient.

You can track your order status by logging into your online account and viewing your recent order transactions. For expedited shipments, this status will indicate when the package is expected to be delivered and if it has been delivered. Please note that while the order tracking status may indicate the product has shipped, the shipping carrier may not have entered the shipping tracking number into their system or picked up the package yet. Therefore there may be some delay before you see shipping status in the shipping carrier’s system.

Please note that USPS may have delays in updating their online tracking information. If you track your shipment and the USPS online service does not find your tracking information, it is either because they have not updated their information yet or the package was not scanned at the post office. If our system provides a tracking number either online or via email notification, this means your package label has been printed.

Holiday Season Delivery
During the busy holiday season, many carriers suspend delivery guarantees from December 11 to December 24. Please adjust your shipping method if you have delivery time constraints.

Cancellation Policy
If for any reason you wish to cancel your order, this must be done within the same business day that the order was placed. Orders can be cancelled with no fee up to the time the actual order is being processed. To cancel an order, please immediately contact a Customer Service representative who will help to cancel the order.

We uniquely design every gift to make them after an order is placed. If you request a cancellation after an order is being processed, we charge a restocking fee of $35 or 20%, whichever is greater, to recover our costs. In special circumstances, Appreciated Gift Baskets may be able to provide additional credit. Any additional credits that might be applied will be at the sole discretion of Appreciated Gift Baskets.

If your package has already been sealed and processed for shipment, but has not been given to the shipping carrier, we will make every attempt to locate it. During the busy holiday seasons, this is normally not possible. If the package is handed to the shipping carrier, they are now responsible for the package. We will attempt to alter the route of the package, but you will be charged for any resulting shipping and handling fees. If the gift package can not be re-routed, then the normal Return Policies apply.

If there will be a substantial delay in shipping your gift, we will notify you to determine if you would like to continue to ship the gift, change your order to another gift, or cancel the order. Please note the expected ship time for each product on its product description page.

Bundling of Gifts for Shipping
Our products ship from several different shopping facilities and therefore cannot be "bundled" into a single package for shipping to a single location. Even products shipping from the same location may not be able to be bundled due to size and weight of the gifts.

Out of Stock
It is possible that a gift or major items in your gift may become unavailable or not available to be restocked. As soon as we know of this situation, we will contact you to determine if you would like to change your order to another gift or cancel the order.

Our customer service department will also contact you if a major substitution is necessary.

Substitution Policy
Appreciated Gift Baskets works hard to ensure the beauty and quality of the gift we are sending out for you. Based on season and availability, we reserve the right to make substitutions of containers or ingredients of equal or better value than those depicted on our web site. We make every effort to supply products as represented on our website. Not all packaging, however, may look identical to the products photographed as packaging colors and shapes may change. In addition, some photographs displayed are of particular sizes of the product, which you may not have ordered.

During the warm summer months, due to the unfortunate melting point of gourmet chocolates, we find the need to substitute other items for chocolates usually from May to October. Gifts identified as shipping with ice and insulation are not subject to substitution. Other chocolate gifts tend to melt in transit or while waiting to be delivered in the back of hot and non-air-conditioned delivery trucks. As a result, we substitute temperature safe items of equal or better value for chocolates with during those months.

The ability to ship with ice and insulation is not available on all products and is dependent on our shipping facility. The individual product descriptions pages indicate if the product will ship with ice and insulation. If you want to send a chocolate gift during the warm summer months, please make sure to order a product identified as being protected with ice and insulation in the warmer months. If ice and insulation were included with the package and the gift is still melted, you will be entitled to a refund or replacement.

A gift is not eligible for refund or discount due to the substitutions described in this policy. We will not notify you separately whether these types of substitutions will apply to your particular order.

Wine Shipments
Due to local ordinances, gift baskets containing wine may only be shipped to recipients 21 years and older living in: AK, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, HI, ID, IL, IN, IA, LA, MI, MN, MO, NE, NV, NH, NM, NC, ND, OH, OR, SC, TX, VA, VT, WV, WI, WY.

Food Allergies
An important point to remember when shipping a food gift, is to be aware of any allergies of your gift recipient and of other people in their home. We also sell Kosher gifts which have had more stringent quality checks placed on their manufacturing process and ingredients.

WARNING: While all manufacturers strive to ensure that only the actual ingredients listed on the label are included within the packaging it is impossible to ensure exactly that. If a company processes more than one product on their equipment, those items may include milk products, nuts, grains and fruit. There is no guarantee that traces of these products will not be found within the contents of this factory sealed item or within this gift basket. If your recipient is highly allergic to these types of items, we strongly suggest that you purchase a non-food gift.

Taxes
Appreciated Gift Baskets will automatically charge and withhold the applicable sales tax for orders to be delivered to addresses within the same state. For orders shipped to other states, you are solely responsible for all sales taxes or other taxes.
